Hi, Am new to the world of Volvo ... and currently wondering if I am regretting it ! We recently brought an 07 Deisel XC90 geartronic lux with approx 15k. It has previously been in an accident but only had rear end damage ..... I have had problems starting it in any weather/temp .... its completely random won't start in cold and normal temps ... will have probs starting even after has been running for a while (eg after school runs etc when not out of car for long). Once started it was fine until this weekend when it refused to start ... tried everything including the AA ! eventually it started but now we have problems with a lack of power ... it won't rev ... we can't get it to drive over approx 35 mph.. when standing still it ticks over fine, but try and rev it when idling and it won't rev then either ... does anyone have any ideas what may be causing this ... apologies if my terminoligy is poor ... have just called volvo only to find warranty is void ... am assuming this is because its an insurance cat d ?? we did not think this would affect the mechanical warranty ?? can anyone advise whether this is known to automatically void all manufacturers warranties ?? Any advice greatfully received .... thanks ..

If you click the button on the end of the indicator stalk, are any messages displayed on the readout under the rev counter?

We have a prob with the dash display at the mo as some LED's been spliced to stop the air bag light coming on, so am unable to see any engine error messages .... when we brought it didn't notice that the 'computer stuff' on dash not working ... concentrated on the body work as knew it had been in a rear end smack. We are waiting for some parts to get the dash fixed .... So unfortunately have no clues .... thanks,

Mine broke down at the weekend with a similar problem,it started fine but when i accelerated away there was no power around 2500 rpm also it came up on dash as engine system failure. The cause of this was the fuel pump (fuel rail pressure) was what came up on the diagnostic test, basically pump knackered and is being replaced tomorrow. Dont know if this helps you but might point you in the right direction. regards James

Sounds as though it is in 'limp home mode', I had a 03 V70 which was lightly rear ended, after it was repaired by Volvo, I lots of problems electronically, various things were changed including seat belt stalks, rear window wiper motor etc. I experienced the 'limp home mode' once. Which I am led to believe is to stop any serious damage happening to the engine or electronics. I was glad to get rid of the car to be honest.
