Hello everyone. The vent window on the left hand side of my car is missing its lock handle. It must have broken off sometime in its past. The window is currently held closed with a washer and a cable tie! I managed to get a nice replacement handle off ebay some time ago. Has anyone any tips about how to replace this? I imagine the glass has to come out. Will it just pull out? Do I need to replace the rubber around it or will silicone mastic do. I asked Brooklands a while ago about replacement rubbers and they didnt have any. Any advice greatly appreciated. Hugh.

Hi Chris and thanks for the reply. The handle is the one with the round button, pic below. The problem is that the handle has snapped off leaving the bottom part of it there, so I need to replace the entire handle as shown in the pic. It looks like it is rivited on to the vent window frame through the two holes. I imagine that I can do this with the window still in the car as long as I can get the glass out. Am I right in thinking this is possible? Any ideas on how to get the glass out? I might be interested in the rubbers you have. Thanks, Hugh.

I had to replace my quarterlight due to broken bottom pivot.... I replaced the window/frame as a single unit... you need to remove window glass and SS trim undo screws around top edge of door tilt the frame towards the center of the door and extract upwards Was pretty straightforward if a little fiddly and time consuming :) 'course the worse part was extracting the Omega clips ....

Thanks Chris. I will see how I get on over here first. My car is actually a left hand drive car as it was imported to Ireland from Germany around 1987 or so. It dosent bother me as I also have a '72 Chevy truck which is a left hooker so I am used to it. I kinda like it actually, I think it makes it stand out from the crowd even more.
