Dashboard fuse blowing V40

Hi have a probem , Dashboard is blowing its fuse all the time , this only started yesterday . The first fuse lasted a few mins , but nis now blowing straight away. Has anyone got any ideas ? thanks

fuse no 7 , 10 amp , does the instruments, indicators , daytime driving lights , trip computer switch and dimmer

Problem fuse 

You have a short to earth which is causing the fuse to blow. The way to find the short to earth is by disconnecting. 1. Remove the blown fuse and place a test lamp in the fuse holder. The test lamp will illuminate, telling you that there is a short to earth in the wiring circuit somewhere. 2. Working in a logic manner disconnect the other circuits that are feed off the same fuse. When the test lamp light extinguishes you will have found the faulty component. 3. The fault might be on a different fuse or a different circuit just keep disconnecting at various places until the light goes out. Disconnect at easy to get places ie fuses, bulbs and connectors. Long winded job but that's the way to find the fault.:speechless-smiley-2 happy hunting:hissyfit:

Just a thought, you got a tow bar fitted? if so check the towbar socket on the back of your car, for loose or broken /corroded wires.Or do you use a cig power adapter? its possible that the lugs inside the cig lighter are touching caused by the power adapter you put in to it.

The cigar lighter has its own fuse - discovered when mine kept blowing :)
