Headphone mix uisng a mic splitter

Has anyone tried creating a headphone network on an LE 002 system by using a mic splitter and sending the 2nd mic outputs to a mixer and then to headphones? Is there any reason this would not work? Otherwise, I don't see any way to create a separate headphone mix from an 002 if low latency is selected. Selecting low latency mutes the aux sends. I want a separate headphone mix than whats going to the control room...Am I missing something here? Any help will be appreciated.

I should work, it may not be as loud because you are splitting the output, but there is no reason that it wouldn't.

maybe there is a stereo version of something like a boss line selector i use on bass when i want to record a clean and fx version in one go so i don't have to use elastic audio to place them in sync. if there is, you could use it to boost the signal when splitted.

Just use the Preamps on the mixer.. I'd think that a mic signal splitter would do just as much damage to the signal as a small mixer's preamps would. Nobody raves about the 002's preamps anyway.. This actually gives you a place to insert a compressor before going to "tape", something many people have wanted to do with the built-in pres.. You should be able to do your headphone mix right on the mixer as long as it has enough outputs.
